Often, individuals enter a state of catelepsy that gives the hypnotherapist an awareness that this person is in a light, medium or deep trance. Again, the word trance is highly misunderstood, but think of it as when you are immersed in something, you might be able to ignore the fact that someone is calling you, or knocking on your door. From there, there are a huge number of benefits such as the ability to tap into creativity, self-healing or explore unconscious patterns for personal growth.

In addition, you are likely to have certain beliefs and values about those actions and skills. By leveraging a hypnotic state of self-reflection, one then metaphorically represents one’s identity as a symbol encompassing all of these characteristics, leading up to a highly empowered state of being. Just like an anchor, a symbol of identity can galvanize inner resources and generate clarity of a sense of meaning, so that daily actions are more congruent and adaptive.
